Child Sexual Abuse

The HIPS Child Sexual Abuse Strategy and toolkit support a co-ordinated approach to preventing child sexual abuse (CSA), and improve the identification, protection, and support for victims, survivors, and their families. It has been created to improve the ways in which children’s needs and risks are understood, recognised and responded to. The Strategy should be read in conjunction with the HIPS Procedures on Child Sexual Abuse.

Every Sleep Counts

The Every Sleep Counts programme has been developed to raise awareness of the risks associated with unsafe sleeping habits with babies

Family Approach

The Family Approach protocol applies to any partner organisation working with unborn babies, children, adults with care and support needs and their families across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, in order for professionals to work effectively together to achieve better outcomes for the children and their families.

Abusive Head Trauma

The ICON programme is a preventative programme which reinforces a simple message to parents/carers regarding how to cope with infants crying. Research suggests that some lose control when a baby's crying becomes too much, and some go on to shake a baby with devastating consequences.

Neglect

The Neglect Strategy helps professionals to understand, identify and work effectively together to achieve better outcomes for children experiencing neglect. The Strategy is supported by the resources in the toolkit to enable professionals to practically apply the principles outlined in the strategy. The Neglect Threshold and Indicator Charts, included in the Strategy, are available as standalone documents in the toolkit.

Safeguarding Adolescents

The Safeguarding Adolescents toolkit has been developed to support professionals in improving outcomes for young people transitioning into adolescence, equipping professionals with the skills to identify and provide an early effective response and intervention to safeguard young people at risk of harm.
