Practitioner Briefings

They provide clear, practical insights that support continuous improvement and strengthen practice across teams. Designed for easy circulation, these briefings can be used in team meetings or supervision to spark discussion, encourage reflection and ensure essential messages reach frontline practitioners.

These tools are designed to strengthen professional understanding, support consistent practice across agencies, and help embed key learning into everyday work with children and families. They offer practical guidance that frontline staff can use to apply insights directly to their roles.

HIPS Procedures

The IOWSCP collaborates with Hampshire, Portsmouth, and Southampton LSCP's to develop shared policies and procedures that guide safeguarding practice across the HIPS region. These are published on the joint HIPS Procedures website, which offers accessible, up-to-date chapters aligned with Working Together to Safeguard Children.

STOP packs

Safeguarding Theme Overview Packs (STOP) offer agencies a one-stop collection of essential tools and resources focused on specific safeguarding themes. Each pack is designed to support effective practice, and some also include materials and signposting for parents and carers.

Strategies and Toolkits

The IOW Partnership works in collaboration with Hampshire, Portsmouth, and Southampton (HIPS) Partnership's to develop free toolkits to support practitioners — both paid and voluntary — working with children. These toolkits reflect the regional safeguarding strategies and offer a whole range of practical guidance and tools to support practitioners. All the toolkits are hosted on the Hampshire LSCP website.

Safeguarding Practice Weeks

Safeguarding Practice Weeks are held throughout each year and are an opportunity to raise awareness of important safeguarding issues and the resources available to support practitioners.
